Directions to MIT

The meeting will be held in buildings E40 and E51, both at the corner of Ames and Wadsworth Streets near Kendall Square (see map).

Due to severely constrained parking in Cambridge and near MIT in particular, we strongly suggest taxis or public transportation to get to campus.

Public Transportation - MBTA ("The T")

Subway: By train, take the Red Line to the Kendall/MIT Station. It is a short walk from there. (see map)

Bus: The #1 or Dudley bus runs along Massachusetts Avenue from Harvard Square through Central Square, past MIT, and across the Harvard Bridge to Boston. It stops at the main entrance to MIT, 77 Mass. Ave. Walk up to Memorial Drive, turn east and it’s a 10-15 minute walk past the Great Dome to the intersection with Wadsworth Street. The entrance to E51 is just before Wadsworth Street.

From Logan Airport

Taxi: Taxi fare from the airport to Kendall Square is about $25-30. The taxi can take 15 - 30 minutes depending on traffic. MIT Building E51 is at the corner of Amherst and Wadsworth Streets near Kendall Square (Wadsworth is off of Memorial Drive, just to the west side of the Longfellow Bridge). The Kendall Hotel is on Main Street (eastbound) across from the MIT Coop.

Subway: The subway ride from Logan involves several transfers. From any terminal at Logan airport, take the airport shuttle bus to the Blue Line subway station. Take the Blue Line to the Government Center station and go upstairs to and take the Green Line trolley to Park Street. At the Park Street station, go downstairs and take the Red Line subway to Kendall/MIT (take the outbound train toward Alewife). Under normal conditions the ride can take about one-half hour to 45 minutes. It is a short walk from there to the meeting location or to the Kendall Hotel (see map).

For students staying in the dorm, it is about a 15 minute walk (~1 mile) from the Red Line at Kendall Square. To get to Next House (student dorm) from the Red Line in Kendall Square, walk west on Main Street (away from the bridge), then turn left on Ames Street. Follow Ames to the end and walk west (right turn) on Memorial Drive along the river, crossing Mass. Ave. and continuing until Fowler Street.  Turn right onto Fowler and then left onto Amherst Alley. Continue past McGregor (high rise dorm), and New House to Next House, # 500 Memorial Drive. (Note there is no entrance from Memorial Drive. You must enter from Amherst Alley.)
